5. Jimmy Carlin
Jimmy Carlin is an underrated veteran in the skateboarding scene. His street skating skills are unique and unpredictable. However, it is his sense of humour and self-awareness that makes him standout. Many consider him one of the most underrated skaters of all time. After watching his skater movie “Flippity Flop Pit Stop” for Mystery Skateboards (which features tricks such as “The Chill Out” and “The Chetty Thomas”), you will soon understand why.
Carlin may have stepped away from the spotlight of skating these days, but his charisma and talent are still a joy to view. This is a skater that is in it for the fun and love of skateboarding, and you can’t help but smile and have fun with him.
4. Joey Pepper
Joey Pepper shows off a calm, maintained demeanour whenever he shows off his skating ability. He is smooth, calm and collected on the board and in the air. A man of few words but has a lot to show. Particular visual highlights in his career range from his 2012 X Games Real Street highlight real, featuring a plethora of grinds, kick flips and for a strange but somewhat fitting reason, country cowboy music. Yes, country cowboy music. Honestly its perfect for how this skater presents himself. Suave but daring. You should check it out!
3. David Gravette
As seen on the picture, David Gravette can be a bit out there with his skating and personality. However, this still makes him a joy to watch. A complete daredevil on the board. Despite the many years he has showcased his talent, he stills continues to innovate and influence skating. There is a fluidity to his skating. His skate videos often are longshots of him changing from a series of grinds, ollies and manuals. All in a continuous motion. His love for nature and the outdoors shines bright too in his videos. Go see for yourself. He still continues to put out more content and has shown to be full of surprises to this day.
2. Nyjah Huston
To some of you readers, this may be a controversial one. Nyjah Huston has often been regarded as somewhat of a guy many in the skating community love to hate. Some call him the Lebron James of skating in today’s day and age, some call him overhyped and as someone just skating for attention. Don’t let that fool you. Nyjah has proven to be one of the more talented skaters in this generation.
One of his standout highlights can be found in the 2019 X Games Street Skate competition in which he showcased a level of versatility that only a small fraction of skaters chose to show during the event. He did this all with smiles and charm. Many hard-core skaters are sceptical of him but check him out, see for yourself.
Elliot Sloan
Elliot Sloan has never failed to put on an entertaining performance. His daredevil antics combined with his lack of fear when doing tricks are a sight to behold. Similar to another person on this list, Sloan's more recent and popular performance was in the 2019 X Games. During the big air event, a show in which skaters go down a huge ramp and up from a quarter pipe, Sloan performed a stunt at the end of the competition that launched him 20 feet and 9 inches high, pushing him from 7th place to 1st instantly. Pulling Brusco, who had dominated the competition throughout the entire event, back down to second. Sloan shows the typical edgy attitude of a skater but with an air of humbleness and sportsmanship about him. He may not be the best skater in the world, but he is certainly one to check out.
